Help Us Get These Kids to the Weekday Matinee!

CAAM CDT is trying to raise funds for the Highland Park Elementary School

Every year CAAM CDT modifies its critically-acclaimed Chinese New Year production into a weekday matinee oriented toward students, seniors, and other large groups. Approximately 20% of the tickets are set aside for students who receive free or reduced-fee school lunches. These tickets are free to the students. There’s a lot of need, and the tickets go fast!

This year, Highland Park Elementary, a Title 1 school in St. Paul has requested 412 subsidized tickets for their K-5 students, all of whom receive free or reduced-price school lunches. This school has a strong Chinese focus.

I have been wanting to bring my students to this program for many years, especially since I know it is so close to our school. Being the only Chinese teacher teaching the whole school of students, having field trips can be a challenge . . . This would be a way for our students at our school to celebrate and bring in Chinese New Year this year since our school is under construction, and we will not have the space to host a big event to celebrate Chinese New Year.

We are deeply grateful to the generous Give To The Max and Facebook donors who have provided $2,774 towards funding these kids. Just 26 kids now remain without funding.

For the price of just 2 Venti lattes, you can send one of these children to the show.  No donation is too small.

Also, as a special thank-you and incentive, CAAM CDT will give those who donate $100 or more a free collectible program from our 2018 Chinese New Year world premiere, “Our Dance, Our Dreams.” The program will be signed by the show’s principals and artistic staff. CAAM CDT will also offer all donors of $100 or more the opportunity to attend the weekday matinee with the kids, free of charge.
