20th Anniversary Celebration

The celebration of 20 years of CAAM Chinese Dance Theater was not for a single day or event; it has been spread out over numerous activities over the course of this year.  The 20th Anniversary celebration in dance performance was kicked off by the CAAM Chinese Dance Theater Spring Recital.  This performance included about 180 dancers performing 21 dances across a wide age range (pre-school – adult).  The 20th Anniversary Celebration included the most extensive outreach performance program that stretched across the state of Minnesota.  The highlights included The Festival of Nations, the Flint Hills International Children’s Day Festival, The Dragon Boat Festival and the Minnesota State Fair.  The celebration of the 20th Anniversary will crescendo with the annual production show, Magnificence: A Splendid Voyage, January 26 and 27, 2013.

Other 20th anniversary celebration activities included the 20X20 Club as a sustained fund-raider for this non-profit organization.  Participants pledged to donate 20 dollars a month for 20 consecutive months.  Our dancers also pledged to improve their own personal skills by dancing 20 minutes a day for 20 weeks.  These activities are on-going.  The 20th anniversary has been celebration of community through gathering and social activities that brings together new and old friends.  On June 10, CAAM Chinese Dance Theater organized a large family gathering in Roseville Central Park.  This event included a picnic, auctions, Tai Chi performances, Millennium Egg hunt, the release of the Spring Recital DVD and a variety of lawn games and other activities.  On November 15, CAAM Chinese Dance Theater celebrated with their parent organization CAAM the Anniversary Gala which brought together old and new Artistic Directors, teachers and students.  The event program included presentations, awards for outstanding service and live performances celebrating the occasion.  A special video was also prepared capturing the essence of the classical performances over the past twenty years.  The event was well attended by the Chinese community, and friends of CAAM Chinese Dance Theater
